Ambient IoT in Action: Ambient Networks & Bluetooth Tracking
What does Ambient IoT look like in practice today? In this talk Blecon explores how Bluetooth LE Ambient Networks can bring tracking, sensing and visibility into real-world operations by using infrastructure that already exists. Rather than focusing only on devices, this session looks at the network side of Ambient IoT and why BLE is in a uniquely practical position today.
Bluetooth Tracking Labels in Action
In this talk we walk through BLE Smart Labels for tracking and visibility, from the underlying technology (what’s inside a “Bluetooth label” and what’s made it viable) to how they’re being used in real workflows today. The session includes a simple way to trial BLE labels in your own environment using sample kits.
AI-powered Bluetooth Smart Beacons for Asset Tracking
Blecon walks through a package tracking application powered by Smart Beacons running AI and connected through the Blecon Network. The Smart Beacons collect temperature, humidity and motion events and synchronise them with the cloud via Blecon Hotspots such as frontline mobile devices and dedicated cellular gateways.
Frontline Devices as agents for Asset Tracking
Blecon shows how frontline devices can act as agents to augment workforces with asset tracking and data collection from Bluetooth tracking labels and sensors. This is a powerful, scalable way to bridge the physical and digital worlds without custom apps, pairing or application specific gateways.
What has changed in Bluetooth
Blecon talks through how BLE has transformed from a simple cable-replacement into a foundation for Beacon Networks, Smart Labels and large-scale asset tracking. Topics covered include; the history behind Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy, how advances in silicon, batteries and manufacturing have changed the economics of connectivity, the rise of Bluetooth Smart Labels and how they’re reshaping supply-chain visibility and why Bluetooth now competes and complements RFID, LoRa and cellular IoT Connectivity.
Live Demo: Cloud Connected BLE Smart Labels
Live demo of the latest Bluetooth Smart Label tracking technology, ultra-thin, disposable and cloud-connected. These labels show how Bluetooth tracking can bring real-world visibility to supply chains using frontline devices, without custom gateways or pairing. Each label combines a zinc-based battery and Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) chip to transmit location and optionally sensor data via nearby phones, laptops or gateway hubs. Simply peel to activate and it starts reporting instantly.
Cloud Connected BLE Smart Labels - Peel, Stick and Track
Meet the next generation of Bluetooth tracking, Cloud Connected BLE Smart Labels. In this demo, Blecon introduces our latest collaboration with Molex and InPlay: ultra-thin Bluetooth Smart Labels that connect directly to the cloud through the Blecon Network. Each label combines Molex’s expertise in flexible electronics, the InPlay IN100 Bluetooth chip and the Blecon firmware in a safe, disposable form factor, perfect for air transport and large-scale deployments.
Blecon & The Curve at TechEx Europe
At TechEx Europe, Blecon caught up with James Ridgway, CTO & Founder of The Curve, to discuss an asset tracking solution built with Blecon. This solution was first developed for a construction client needing visibility of workforce movement across large, remote sites for security and health & safety. In this video, James explains how it works and the result is an end-to-end asset tracking solution designed to operate where traditional connectivity and power aren’t available.
Bluetooth Beacons are Back!
Bluetooth Beacons have been part of the IoT story for more than a decade but their role today looks very different from the early days of iBeacon and Eddystone. In this talk we take you through the evolution of Beacon technology including; the launch of iBeacon with the iPhone 4S and Google’s Eddystone, how Beacons moved from proximity marketing into large-scale asset tracking and the rise of commercial Beacon Networks inspired by Apple’s Find My.
Blecon L02S-BCN Smart Beacon Q&A
A brief Q&A about the L02S-BCN Smart Beacon, developed in collaboration between Blecon and MOKOSMART. The hardware is based on the L02 MOKOSMART hardware platform, upgraded with the Nordic Semiconductor nRF54L to provide a powerful Bluetooth software platform. The default software is based on Zephyr, available on GitHub for deriving custom applications and can be updated via OTA with platforms like Memfault. An example of Edge AI using EdgeImpulse is also included.
L02S-BCN in action: Blecon-enabled Smart Beacon
We walk through 3 examples of the capabilities of Smart Beacons, covering logging, proximity and Edge AI using Edge Impulse. The hardware is powered by the Nordic Semiconductor nRF54L15, and includes an accelerometer and environmental sensors in an IP67 case. The examples leverage the standard Blecon Network features including secure identity, 2-way encrypted communication, global time synchronization, and location awareness features, providing an effective way to deploy cloud-connected and powerful bluetooth sensor devices.
How Smart Beacons are transforming Asset Visibility
Smart beacons have come a long way from simple Bluetooth advertising devices. In this talk, we take a look at how the technology is evolving and how that’s opening up new applications for asset visibility across industrial and commercial use cases. We cover the limitations of traditional beacons, such as one-way communication and lack of security, and explore how newer BLE-based devices with embedded compute, local storage, and cloud connectivity are changing what's possible.
Why is industry moving to Smart Beacons?
This talk covers the evolution of Smart Beacons using Bluetooth Low Energy technology and beacons, focusing on the origins of Classic Beacons and their applications in both consumer marketing and industrial settings, the impact of iPhone, AirTags and the Find My Network, the current limitations of Classic Beacons, and the growing demand for smarter, integrated Beacon solutions in the IoT landscape.
